Windows 2000 or XP Service Pack 1 with Broadcom Drivers
for eBeam Interact 1.2 or eBeam Software 2.4 :
- Make sure your USB to Bluetooth adapter is NOT plugged into your computer
- Install Broadcom Software from the disk provided by Iogear
- Plug in the adapter when prompted by the installer
- Double-click “My Bluetooth Places” on your desktop
- Click “Bluetooth Setup Wizard”
- Choose “I know the service I want to use and I want to find a Bluetooth device that provides that service” and click Next

- Choose Bluetooth Serial Port and click Next
- The software should find eBeam automatically in Search (make sure the drop-down box is set to Show All Devices)
- Choose your eBeam and click Next
- Click on Configure and uncheck the “Secure Connection” box

- Note the COM port and click OK
- Make sure Start the Connection is checked and click Finish
- The eBeam Shortcut in My Bluetooth Places should be glowing green and marked Connected

- Close My Bluetooth Places
- Double-click on one of the eBeam icons on your desktop
- Your eBeam will be detected by the software
Windows XP Service Pack 2 with native Microsoft Bluetooth Drivers
for eBeam Interact 1.2 or eBeam Software 2.4:
If you have a yellow sticker on your eBeam receiver that says your default Bluetooth passkey is 1234, please skip to Section 2.
Section 1: Programming Your eBeam with a Passkey
Hook up your eBeam directly to your computer with the USB cable. When the eBeam is plugged in and glowing green, you can use the eBeam Bluetooth Utility to program your receiver. Once you program your receiver with a passkey that number will be necessary for all future connections to the eBeam. If multiple computers will be used with the same eBeam, you may want to consider writing the passkey on a label or tag and attaching it to the receiver.
- For Interact 1.2 for eBeam Projection Users:
- Right-click on eBeam Interactive icon in the system tray (down by the clock) and choose “Options.”
- Go to the “Hardware Settings” tab and click on “Bluetooth Configuration…”
- Check all three boxes under “Security”
- If the “Change” button next to “Passkey:” is grayed out, uncheck “Require Authentication,” and then recheck it.
- Click on “Change…”
- Type in a passkey number of your choice
- Click “Apply New Settings.”
- Click “OK” in the Setup Complete box, then click “Close.”
For eBeam Software 2.4 for eBeam Whiteboard Users:
- Open the eBeam Software
- Go to the Tools > eBeam Hardware > “Bluetooth Configuration…”
- Check all three boxes under “Security”
- If the “Change” button next to “Passkey:” is grayed out, uncheck “Require Authentication,” and then recheck it.
- Click on “Change…”
- Type in a passkey number of your choice
- Click “Apply New Settings.”
- Click “OK” in the Setup Complete box, then click “Close.”

Section 2: Windows XP (Service Pack 2) drivers :
Insert Iogear dongle into an available USB port and XP will automatically detect it and download the proper drivers. Make sure your eBeam is plugged into a power outlet and glowing blue.
- Right-click on the Bluetooth Icon in the System Tray (down by the clock.)
- Choose “Add a Bluetooth Device.”
- Check “My device is set up and ready to be found,” then click “Next.”

- The BT software will search and find your eBeam. Highlight it and click “Next.”
- Choose the button next to “Let me choose my own passkey.”
- Enter your passkey, and click “Next.”

- Note the COM Port that is assigned to your eBeam and click “Finish”
- Double-click on one of the eBeam icons on your desktop
- Your eBeam will be detected by the software
Mac OS 10.x for eBeam Whiteboard and eBeam Projection
(Note: This is only for OS 10 and above since OS 9 does NOT support Bluetooth)
- Open the Utilities folder in Applications.
- Open the Bluetooth Serial Utility.

- Click "New...", enter "eBeam" as the port name, ensuring "Port Direction: Outgoing" is selected.
- Click "Select Device".
- In the resulting screen click "eBeam" (which will be followed by a 6-digit identification code), then click "White Board" in the next box to the right. (If you don't see eBeam in the left box, ensure "All Types" and "All Categories" are selected in the pop-ups above).
- Click Search.

- The next 3 boxes (Authentication, Encryption and Network Preferences) should be unchecked and then Port Type should be RS-232.

- Click OK and quit the Bluetooth Serial Utility. Once this step is complete, it should be possible to return to eBeam Software or eBeam Interact and auto detect the system. In eBeam Software 2.1.3, if detection fails, go to Preferences in the eBeam menu, click the Port Setup tab, click Connect To, and then choose "eBeam”. If "eBeam" does not appear, perform the above steps to create the port once again.
How to turn off the security feature in Mac:
- From the "Apple" menu, choose "System Preferences."
- Go to "Hardware>Bluetooth," then choose "Settings."
- From this menu, uncheck the boxes for "Require Authentication" and "Use Encryption."
- Apply the changes and this will eliminate the request for a PIN number.
Mac OS 10.4x with eBeam Interact 1.0 for eBeam Projection
- Click Bluetooth Menu by the clock
- Choose Set-up Bluetooth Device
- Dialogue box opens, click Continue
- Select Any Device and click Continue
- Choose your eBeam from the list

- Click Passkey Options
- Choose Do Not Use Passkey with this Device

- Click OK
- Click Continue
- Quit the Dialogue box
- Open eBeam Interactive Software
